Our
Outreach and the impact it has to our community
Cornerstone
is a community-minded church. While the single
greatest contribution we can make to our
community is to introduce people into a personal
commitment to Jesus, we believe the best way to
achieve that goal is to share and show the love
of Jesus.
We
believe that when we serve others, we are
serving Jesus. When we give to others, we are
giving to Jesus. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus says,
"I tell you
the truth, just as you did it for one of the
least of these brothers of mine, you did it for
me."
We are
called to look after the most helpless and
defenseless in our world. Christ spend much of
His time on earth ministering to those rejected
by the rest of the predominant culture of the
day. In His days here, those were the lepers,
prostitutes, and tax collectors. In the 21st
century America, the people most rejected and
neglected by our culture are the homeless, the
poor, the addicted and the elderly. These are
our neighbors in our community and it is our
ministry to show them the love of Jesus through
our actions so that we may introduce the reality
of Christ into their lives and hearts.
The
community ministries of this church reach out to
feed, clothe, teach, and serve the "least, last,
lost" in love. In doing so, they provide a
'bridge' to share Christ with our neighbors.
You will
find details on many of the ministries,
including volunteer opportunities. Most of our
ministries provide volunteer opportunities for
the whole family to fully participate in and
contribute in a safe environment.
